History of Present Illness:
A patient in their mid 40’s with a history of diabetes and recent elbow I&D for an abscess is called back to the ER for wound culture growing a rapid-growing species of mycobacteria. The I&D was nine days ago after ~2 weeks of gradually increasing redness and swelling to the skin near the left elbow. There was cosmetic surgery in the same limb about 2 months ago performed in Mexico. The patient denies any fever or other complaints.
