Diabetes Study Shows Lifestyle Interventions and Metformin Continue to Prevent Type 2 Diabetes After 2 Decades

New data released today from the Diabetes Prevention Program Outcomes Study (DPPOS) shows that in over 2000 patients followed for an average of 22 years, lifestyle programs and treatment with metformin continues to prevent the development of type 2 diabetes in at risk populations.

Research Illuminates Origins of Type 1 Diabetes and Celiac Disease

New data from the Environmental Determinants of Diabetes in the Young (TEDDY) study illuminate the environmental triggers that are thought to cause the autoimmune response leading to type 1 diabetes(T1D) and celiac disease. The data was presented in a symposium at the American Diabetes Association meeting.
